Gas Mileage Tips

With gasoline prices through the roof, and likely to spike this summer with the seasonal demand increases, here are a few tips to help you save some money on gas.

Tune up your ride. Staying on top of your engine and car's maintenance can improve your gas mileage.

Infate your tires. Studies have shown that keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure can get you around 3% better gas mileage. I just picked up a great dial pressure gague at Brookstone for $12.

Replace your air filter. Driving around with a dirty air filter can cost you a lot more than the $3 to $5 it costs for a new one. Studies show a clean air filter can increase mileage about 10%! That is huge. So, stop being so lazy an clean that K&N already.

Lose some weight. Studies indicate that every 100 lbs you remove from your car can increase your fuel economy by about 2%

There you go. Now get on all of those things you know you should be doing anyway...now you have a good reason. Money.
